Make the material part of your reasoning.

Organize around a question. Keep the supporting evidence, disagreements, and gaps in view. These workflows are planned for Research.

How the workflow is planned

  1. 01

    Make the question specific

Define what you need to judge, the subjects involved, and the time and source boundaries.

  2. 02

    Read different sources together

Use the planned research tools to find material and compare agreement, disagreement, and missing evidence.

  3. 03

Keep the evidence beside the conclusion

Open original sources, check references, and retain unresolved questions in your report.

Compatible software

Choose an app and open its setup guide. These instructions follow official software documentation; individual AddMana connections have not all been tested. Each card uses its own key and balance. Update the app configuration whenever you rotate its key.

Combine document Q&A, knowledge bases, and reference management. The Research card is not yet for sale. Configure search, embeddings, and database access separately.

Document Q&A · Custom API

Open WebUI

Ask about uploaded material and follow citations back to the source.

Setup and usage guide · Open WebUI

Before you start:Document processing and retrieval need configuration. Embeddings and web search are separate from the chat connection.

  1. In Settings → Admin → Connections, add an OpenAI connection with URL https://gateway.addmana.com/v1, this card’s key, and model ID.
  2. Follow the RAG guide to configure document processing and embeddings. Upload material you may use and wait for indexing.
  3. Select the document or knowledge base in chat and ask a question with an answer you can locate in the source.

Check the result:Follow the answer’s citations to the original text. Verify any source that cannot be located.

Official software guide

Knowledge base · Custom API

Cherry Studio

Organize reusable material into a knowledge base and retrieve relevant passages.

Setup and usage guide · Cherry Studio

Before you start:Use this card for the chat model. Embedding and reranking models are configured separately.

  1. Add an OpenAI-type provider with address https://gateway.addmana.com/v1/, this card’s key, and model ID.
  2. Create a knowledge base and import files, notes, or webpages. Choose keyword or vector retrieval as supported by your app version.
  3. Test retrieval with a known passage, then attach the knowledge base to a chat using the card’s model.

Check the result:Confirm retrieved passages belong to the selected material and citations can be checked. Inspect indexing status if material is missing.

Official software guide

Document reading · Custom model

TypingMind

Compare perspectives, extract supporting passages, and organize questions across documents.

Setup and usage guide · TypingMind

Before you start:Configure a custom model first. Attachments consume context; document features may require a software license.

  1. In Add Custom Models, use Endpoint https://gateway.addmana.com/v1/chat/completions, this card’s model ID, and key. Test and save.
  2. Upload documents in a new chat and specify filenames and a comparison question. Split material that exceeds context limits.
  3. Ask for each document’s position and supporting text, then verify each item against the original file.

Check the result:Each point maps to the supplied material. Reprocess files that exceed context limits or cannot be parsed.

Official software guide

Reference management · File handoff

Zotero

Keep references and attachments organized for traceable reading.

Setup and usage guide · Zotero

Before you start:This guide does not connect an AddMana key to Zotero itself. AI reading happens in the clients above.

  1. Save an item with Zotero Connector or add it using an identifier such as a DOI.
  2. Check authors, title, and year, and attach a PDF you have permission to use.
  3. Open the required attachment in a document-Q&A client above. Bring verified notes and sources back to Zotero.

Check the result:Confirm item metadata matches the attachment and citations lead to original material. Database and paid full-text access are separate.

Official software guide

Software licenses, web search, reference databases, and rendering may have separate charges. API connections, workflow configuration, and file imports are different ways to use these tools.

A few things to know before you choose

How is this different from Text?

Text is for reading, translating, and writing from material you already have. Research is planned for finding material around a question, comparing sources, and organizing references. Available search tools and sources will be listed at launch.

Does it include academic databases and paid papers?

Model usage does not include subscription databases or paywalled full text. The planned workflows use explicitly available sources and material you are entitled to provide.

How should I use the references?

Open the original sources, check that they support the claims, and verify citation formatting before using them in a report or paper. Generated summaries and references can contain errors. Keep unverified points marked as unresolved.

Take your next question a little further.

Research is in preparation. If you already have material to read, translate, or organize, explore the available Text card.
